Help Reduce Lag On ParaCube

Lag can disrupt gameplay for everyone, so we all need to do our part to ensure the server runs smoothly. Follow these tips to help minimize lag while enjoying your time on the server.

1. Limit Entity Spawning

What Are Entities?

Entities are anything that moves or interacts in the game, such as animals, mobs, and dropped items. Too many entities can cause the server to lag.

How to Help:

  • Farm Responsibly: Keep the number of animals in your farms reasonable (e.g., 10-15 of each type).

  • Avoid Overbreeding: Don’t breed too many animals at once.

  • Use Hoppers Sparingly: Excessive hoppers can also contribute to lag. Use them only when necessary.

2. Clean Up Dropped Items

Items left on the ground can quickly add up and cause lag.

How to Help:

  • Pick Up Items: Always pick up dropped items after mining or farming.

  • Dispose of Trash: Use trash bins or lava to get rid of unnecessary items.

3. Build Efficiently

Large, complex builds with excessive redstone can put strain on the server.

How to Help:

  • Minimize Redstone Usage: Avoid running large, continuous redstone contraptions.

  • Turn Off Machines: Disable automatic machines when they’re not in use.

  • Avoid Excessive Lighting: Too many torches or light sources in one area can cause lag.

4. Respect Server Limits

The server has specific limits in place to reduce lag.

How to Help:

  • Mob Caps: Don’t exceed the mob limit in your area.

  • Chunk Loaders: Only use chunk loaders if they’re allowed on the server.

  • Avoid Large Item Drops: Be mindful when dropping stacks of items or blocks.

5. Report Lag Issues

If you notice the server lagging, let staff know so they can investigate.

How to Help:

  • Use the command:

    /lag

This will display server performance stats.

6. Be Mindful of Other Players

Lag can often be caused by actions from multiple players.

How to Help:

  • Communicate: Let others know if their actions are causing lag.

  • Share Resources: Avoid overloading specific areas of the server.

  • Help New Players: Teach them these tips to minimize lag.

Why Does This Matter?

A lag-free server ensures everyone has a smooth and enjoyable experience. By following these tips, you’re contributing to the health of the community and keeping ParaCube fun for everyone.

Thank you for doing your part to help reduce lag!
